Vasudevan Baskaran, born on August 17, 1950, hails from Tamil Nadu, India, and is a former field hockey player and coach. He notably captained the Indian national team, leading them to victory and securing the gold medal at the 1980 Summer Olympics held in Moscow, then a part of the Soviet Union.
