Vasudevan Baskaran

Full Description: Vasudevan Baskaran, born on August 17, 1950, hails from Tamil Nadu, India, and is a former field hockey player and coach. He notably captained the Indian national team, leading them to victory and securing the gold medal at the 1980 Summer Olympics held in Moscow, then a part of the Soviet Union. Following his illustrious playing career, Baskaran transitioned into coaching, dedicating himself to mentoring numerous players for the Indian team. He served as the head coach of the India hockey team during the 1998 and 2006 Hockey World Cup tournaments. Presently, he resides with his family in Besant Nagar, Chennai, India.
