Description: Bombayla Devi Laishram, born on February 22, 1985, is an Indian archer who has been a part of the national recurve team representing India in international events since 2007. Throughout her career, she has achieved notable success, including winning a silver medal at the World Archery Championships, as well as securing four gold, five silver, and four bronze medals across various editions of the Archery World Cup. In March 2009, Laishram reached her peak ranking of no. 14 in the world.
About: Laishram has competed for India in the Olympics three times, advancing to the pre-quarterfinals on two occasions. Additionally, she has earned medals at various multi-sporting events, clinching a gold at the Commonwealth Games and a bronze at the Asian Games. In recognition of her remarkable contributions to sports, Laishram was honored with the Arjuna Award in 2012 and the Padma Shri in 2019 by the Government of India.
Achievements:
In 2012, Laishram was bestowed with the Arjuna Award, India’s second-highest sporting honor, by the Government of India. Subsequently, in 2019, she was conferred with the Padma Shri, the nation’s fourth highest civilian honor.
