Michel Castanha

About: Hailing from Curtorim, Michel Margaret Castanha embarked on her football journey at the age of eight, representing the Bodyline Club from Maharashtra. In her career milestones, Castanha debuted in the Under-17 Nationals at just 12 years old in Chandigarh in 2005. Transitioning to the Indian top tier, she played for Pune City and India Rush Soccer in the 2016 and 2017 editions respectively. Castanha further honed her skills during two seasons with Gokulam Kerala FC in the Indian Women's League, contributing to their title victories in 2019 and 2022. She also played a vital role for Sethu FC, finishing as runners-up in the 2021 season. On the international stage, Castanha made her debut for the Indian national team at the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers in 2018, held in South Korea. She was part of the national squad that clinched victories in the SAFF Championship and the South Asian Games in 2019. Additionally, she was selected for the Indian team in the 2022 AFC Asian Cup but had to withdraw due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In July 2023, Castanha received another significant opportunity, being selected for the Senior India camp scheduled to take place in Bhubaneshwar from July 30 for the AFC Olympic Qualifiers Round II held in Tashkent.
