Description: Nelson Loyola, born on August 3, 1968, is a Cuban fencer who clinched a bronze medal in the team épée event at the 2000 Summer Olympics. His son, Neisser Loyola, also a fencer specializing in épée and representing Belgium, secured a bronze medal in the individual men's épée at the 2022 World Fencing Championships.
About: At the age of 11, he began fencing in Cuba, inspired by his family's fondness for the sport. Despite initially starting with the violin, he found his passion in fencing, even fashioning makeshift swords out of household items like a TV antenna. He currently represents CE Gaumais in Belgium, under the guidance of his father and coach, Nelson Loyola Torriente.
